Worshiping the Lord – Trusting God Through Difficulties

“For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold From those who walk uprightly. O Lord of hosts, Blessed is the man who trusts in You!” - Psalms 84:11-12

The psalmist ends Psalm 84 with another blessing for those who trust in God. Worship is believing in Jesus and what He says. This is what truly matters in life.  The Lord is a sun to us because He shines on us and is the brightness of our days.  He is a shield to protect and guard us against our foes.  He is the only one, true, possible source of grace, honor, and true glory. That simple trust in Him leads us to be convinced: “No good will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.”

Worship is trusting God until the end. Worship is longing to be with Him as the psalmist declared, “a day in Your courts is better than a thousand.” (Psalm 84:10) Worship is serving others in whatever way we can and prioritizing this above worldly pursuits. Worship is walking uprightly. Worship is simply believing in the finished work of Christ.

As we continue through this difficult time in our world, endeavor to worship the Lord with passion, emotion, sincerity, and truth. Let your soul be lifted from the day, from the week, from the pilgrimage you are on; so that you can say, “How lovely is your dwelling place!” (Psalm 84:1) Let the Lord move in you to inspire service, compassion, and prayer for your neighbor. Put feet to your passion by being obedient to the voice of the Lord; let your worship be marked by obedience.
